Pira International to Investigate Opportunities in Thermal Paper
11 March 2010
Leatherhead, UK, 11 March 2010. Pira International is launching its Paper Perspectives Multi-client program for 2010 with a new study on the thermal paper market.
"Thermal printed papers have been a successful niche product for many years, adapting and evolving to changes in technology and end user demands", according to Pira's Head Paper Consultant and Paper Perspectives Director Dr. Graham Moore.
Thermal papers have found niches in many markets which have traditionally been dominated by other grades. The drive for greater business efficiency and the availability of low-cost and maintenance free imaging devices have led to a range of print-on-demand (POD) applications. Point-of-sale (POS) applications currently dominate the thermal paper end use market but this may change.
Pira's new research will provide global market sizing for the global thermal paper market broken down by substrate type, end use sector and key geographic region. The study will also investigate the impact of the latest technologies and business practices, the growing market for labelling and the effect of the 'green movement' on the outlook for thermal paper for the next five years.
The research is due to commence in April and is scheduled to be completed in July 2010. Project sponsors are expected to be drawn from thermal paper manufacturers; converters; label manufacturers; chemical suppliers, OEM's and others who are involved with the manufacture, conversion and selling of thermal papers.
Subscribers will receive the final study in July, and will also have a significant opportunity to help shape the scope of the research before the commencement of the primary research phase in April. There is also an opportunity for an optional on site presentation of the findings and their implications for individual sponsors.
Subscription to The Future of Thermal Papers to 2015 costs £8,500 or £9,950 including the optional on-site presentation. Pira is also offering a 10% discount for any orders confirmed before the end of March 2010.
This will be the first Paper Perspectives Multi-client study for 2010. Paper Perspectives is an ongoing programme looking at opportunities for pulp and paper suppliers based on extensive primary research and expert technical analysis. Paper Perspectives offers a unique mix of quantitative and qualitative research plus the opportunity to discuss the findings with program director Dr. Graham Moore.
