Fragile products and product characterisation

Complex instruments and machinery which include mechanical, optical or electronic components and sensors can be highly vulnerable to damage and will require correct protective packaging to ensure safe delivery to customers.

Savings in packaging cost and cubic shipping volumes can be delivered through technical packaging design by understanding
product damage vulnerability and balancing this against the hazards of distribution. Effective packaging design can also reduce the cost of returns and high costs associated with field service and repairs.

Over-packaging is not a 'quick fix' solution: over-packing, or inappropriate packaging, can cause as many problems as it attempts
to resolve and causes an unnecessary cost burden.

Pira International offers a complete range of pack design and performance evaluation services for the distribution of complex and fragile items.

Environment Characterization

Pira International's environment characterization allows customers to define their shipping environment. The value of this characterization is the validation that the tools being used to predict the affects of the shipping environment on package-products (i.e. test equipment and test protocols) are being applied properly. Once validated, our customers can be confident in the packaged-product performance demonstration and then make educated decisions with regards to the shipping protection of their products.
