The global corrugated board packaging market is forecast to grow to 98 million tonnes in 2015, a new study by Pira International reveals. According to the study, the sector is to grow by a CAGR of nearly 5% between 2010 and 2015, with the highest expansion rates forecast in Brasil, Russia, India, China (the BRIC countries) and Poland.

Pira, working with researchers at Aston University and gasifier manufacturer Biomass Engineering, have been awarded an EPSRC PhD CASE studentship to examine 'The potential for generation of CHP by the gasification of paper industry wastes'. Aylesford Newsprint, SmurfitKappa SSK and Kimberly Clark are supporting the project.
Over the past four years, Pira has worked with the PPA to measure post consumer magazine recycling rates in the UK.
