Slow speed release force

The release force is the force required to separate the release backing from the pressure sensitive adhesive. It is used when investigating problems of poor label conversion or machine application performance.

A very low release force may create label fly during conversion or application, whereas a high release force may produce web break when skeleton stripping die cut labels or dispensing failure during automatic application.

Low speed release force is measured by Pira using FINAT test method 3.
