pH, Sulphates and Chlorides

The determination of pH, water-soluble sulphates and water-soluble chlorides is made by Pira on paper, board and packaging materials for medical devices which are to be sterilised.

pH is also a factor in the evaluation of the permanence of paper and is referenced in International standard ISO 9706 covering papers for documents. It can also be a factor in the corrosion of products in contact with paper packaging.

Pira testing is UKAS, ISO 17025 accredited to British standard BS 2924: Parts 1, 3 and 4, and International standard ISO 6588, ISO 9197/1 and ISO 9198.
