Grammage and Grammage of components

The grammage or "basis weight" of paper, board and tissue is determined by weighing a known area after conditioning in a standard 23°C, 50%rh environment for a minimum of 24 hours. Results are usually quoted as gsm or g/m2.

Pira is UKAS, ISO 17025 accredited for grammage testing to British standard BS EN ISO 536 and International standard ISO 536.

Paper grammage testing is included in Pira's Paper Proficiency Service.Grammage of components refers to the grammage of the separate papers which make up corrugated fibreboard, i.e. liners and flutings. Pira is UKAS, ISO 17025 accredited for grammage testing of components to International standard ISO 3039.
