Pack Testing

Pira's knowledge and understanding of primary packaging is extensive, covering the range of packaging materials and formats, and the conversion of materials in to finished packs. Pira's knowledge also covers filling and sealing of packaging, and the performance of the finished packed/filled unit with respect to the range of specification and fitness attributes, from leakage and integrity, to barrier and shelf life, and from physical robustness to performance under strenuous climatic conditions.

Expert Profile

  • Doug joined Pira in 1989 and has 20 years experience in the physical testing of packaging and packaging materials. He heads a team specialising in packaging and print related technical investigations. In 2004 Doug gained his postgraduate degree with distinction in Packaging Technology from Brunel University.
